Forestia Congress Votes to Stop Future Elections!

Citizens of Forestia were greatly disturbed this afternoon to hear the news: there would be no more elections in Forestia!

Congress had quietly passed a new bill by a small margin which would halt the plans of those seeking to run for office. Feelings were strong. There were tears and dire predictions. Some congress members distanced themselves from the vote. Others stood by it. What to do? Democracy was in great danger of being undermined!

The day was saved by President L, who simply vetoed the law. Tears stopped. Smiles broke out. Citizens rushed to shake his hand and thank him for saving the country.

We talked about concepts such as “checks and balances” and “balance of power”. Someone told about their home country of Venezuela and highlighted that some countries do not have a balance of power.

Congress wiped their brows and were relieved they had been given the grace of shared power. Elections (and re-elections) will soon follow!

Long live democracy! May it ever protect us.
